A crowd of invented faces, drawn in marker until the paper is full.
An open-ended body of drawings made in marker on paper: heads, crowns, trees and suns, built from flat colour and a single continuous contour rather than from shading.
Nothing is planned before the pen touches the sheet. A face arrives, the ground grows around it — chequerboards, waves, thickets of line — and the drawing is finished when there is no paper left to fill.
At this size the marker cannot be modulated, so each work resolves into three or four flat colours and a hard outline — closer to a printed card than to a drawing.
